What happens when you mix the charming, neighborly life of Animal Crossing with the whimsical, planetary adventure of The Little Prince? Quick Facts

Developer: miHoYo
Publisher: HoYoverse
Genre: Cozy Life-Simulation / Cozy Game
Platforms: PC (Windows), iOS, Android (Consoles in development)
Release Date: Winter 2026
Featured Event: Gamescom ’26

Announced by the globally acclaimed developers at HoYoverse (miHoYo), Petit Planet takes the classic cozy life sim and launches it into the cosmos. Stepping into the shoes of a “Planet Tender,” players are assigned to their very own, customisable mini-planetoid in the middle of a stunning starry sea. The primary goal is simple yet deeply engaging: shape your little planet, build your perfect home, raise crops, go fishing, and cook delicious recipes alongside a warm, lovable cast of anthropomorphic, fuzzy animal neighbors who move in to live beside you.

But your planet is just the starting line. Petit Planet is designed around the idea of intergalactic connection. Throughout your adventure, you can explore the wider “Starsea” using spacecraft, travel to the bustling Galactic Bazaar to meet other players, trade rare resources, and establish long-lasting bonds with communities across the servers. It is a brilliant expansion of the genre, marrying solitary, relaxing construction with vibrant, shared social spaces.

First Impressions: A Delightful Start to Galactic Life

At Gamescom ’26, we finally got our hands on a playable demo of Petit Planet, and the initial experience did not disappoint. The first thing that absolutely blew us away was the character editor. It is remarkably robust and incredibly cute, giving players a staggering amount of customization options to fine-tune their avatar’s hair, outfit styles, facial features, and overall aesthetic. Whether you want a bright, dreamy look or a cozy, rustic feel, the editor lets your imagination run wild.

Once we hopped into the actual game, we were introduced to the **tutorial**, which is exceptionally well-crafted. It holds your hand just enough to explain the core mechanics of planetary design, resource collection, and landscaping, without ever feeling tedious or overbearing. It introduces the warm, whimsical tone of the writing perfectly, setting a fantastic foundation for the cozy adventure ahead.

An Ambitious World of Infinite Possibilities

Since our hands-on time on the show floor was limited, we were unfortunately only able to experience the tutorial and the immediate starting phase. However, even in this brief slice, the game’s stellar production values and cozy atmosphere shone through beautifully. That said, there is one major detail that players should keep in mind: Petit Planet is an **online-only game**. To play, you must log in using a registered **HoYoverse account** and maintain a constant internet connection. While this enables seamless cross-play, server-wide trade events, and easy multiplayer connections, offline cozy-sim purists might find the constant connectivity requirement a bit of a hurdle.

The Verdict: HoYoverse’s Next Big Cozy Hit

Despite our limited demo window, Petit Planet displays massive, undeniable potential. By taking the addictive, comforting formula of Animal Crossing and blending it with the boundless exploration of a stylized, star-filled universe, HoYoverse is crafting a true heavy-hitter. If the full game can sustain the magic of its opening hours across its progression loop, this will be an absolute must-play when it launches in Winter 2026. Prepare your spacesuits and get ready to mold your own cozy corner of the cosmos!
