Imagine traveling through a beautifully stylized, near-future Barcelona on a quest to solve a dark mystery, guided by the most unlikely duo: a grandfather and his young granddaughter. In Age Twisters, players embark on a deeply emotional yet wonderfully chaotic journey to find a missing mother. The only tool at their disposal? A pair of mysterious, high-tech bracelets known as “Age Twisters” that allow the characters to alter their physical age in real time.

At its core, this game is designed entirely as a two-player, CO-OP ONLY experience. To ensure you can easily find a partner, KRAFTON is including a Friend’s Pass—meaning only one player needs to own the game, and they can send a free invite to a friend to experience the entire journey together, whether playing locally on the same couch or online.

Hands-On: Bridging the Gap in Real Time

During our Gamescom ’26 hands-on session, we got to experience how this unique 2.5D top-down perspective translates into collaborative puzzle-solving. The magical hook of Age Twisters lies in its four distinct, playable age stages, which players can freely cycle through. Each stage completely redefines a character’s skill set:

  • Childhood: Granting exceptionally fast movement speed and the ability to swap positions instantaneously.
  • Adolescence: Unlocking rhythm-based musical abilities that can slow down fast-moving traps or enemies.
  • Adulthood: Providing heavy melee attacks and raw power to break through physical barriers and engage in combat.
  • Old Age: Bestowing magnetic powers capable of manipulating metal objects and solving complex environmental puzzles.

In addition to these four active classes, the developers have teased two “bonus” age stages—Baby and Death. While they aren’t directly playable, they play massive parts in both the narrative and gameplay, such as humorously turning tough enemies into harmless babies. Combined with chaotic sequences featuring weird vehicles, driveable mechs, and even an animatronic Tyrannosaurus Rex, Piccolo Studio constantly keeps you on your toes!

No More Co-Op Frustration: A Game for Everyone

We have all been there: playing a co-op game with a partner of a different skill level can sometimes lead to mild frustration. Piccolo Studio has taken a brilliantly refreshing approach here, explicitly designing Age Twisters to “reduce frustration and turn failure into fun.”

Instead of punishing players with brutal setbacks or trial-and-error fatigue, the game’s puzzles are structured with clever safety nets. The UI is clean, intuitive, and highly communicative, letting you easily sync your moves. It is the perfect title for parents and children, couples, or gaming veterans playing with newcomers. It genuinely breaks down barriers—both between the characters in Pywel and the players sitting side-by-side on the sofa.

The Verdict: A Masterpiece in the Making

Following in the footsteps of brilliant genre giants like It Takes Two, Age Twisters manages to carve out a wonderful niche of its own. It is heartwarming, visually striking, and mechanically incredibly clever. The real-time age-shifting is fluid and opens up endless gameplay possibilities. Piccolo Studio has a certified co-op gem on its hands. Clean up your couches—this is going to be an absolute must-play when it launches in 2027!
