Remembering Super Bomberman from your SNES, yeah its some kind of that and even coming as a sequel.
Its all what you might love from the previews Super Bomberman R, or from the 90s SNES game. but to be honest not that good anymore.
First I was really excited that there will be a Super Bombermann R 2, since I really liked the first new installation. Maybe since I really loved the game on my SNES back in the 90s. But they created a worse matching story mode. going more into online Multiplayer with Seasons and all the live service shit you know but don’t like. And rushing it out like that.
From a gamemode perspective you have only two availabe in the Main Menu, with more options in sub menus.
Story > Some kind of story, which is onl ypartly using the traditional bomberman mechanics.
Fight > every other gamemode which is more the classic bomb-out mode.
Fight > Ranked > Online ranked matches with seasonal aquireable rank system,
Fight > Private Game > yeah unranked private matches with your online friends
Fight > Offline Fight > The option to play offline with your friends, but only up to 4 players. (As a Bonus you can add Bots – taking one of thoose four sarting positions…)
So there are a new gamemode “castle” but since its only available in story and online multiplayer I will skip it here.
From our first few hours of gameplay, I would say besides all the given, its a classical bomberman, with all the upgrades and items you might know from the series. Still fun to play on modern console and bombing out your friends. But we would recommedn to only buy it in sale, if you are only planing to play with your friends.
Or even better grabbing a copy of Part 1 and have more fun, for less money.
A good game, which remembers you of the good old 90s gameplay, but in between it losts its track record.
